Toranj između dvaju mora

Polly se vratila u grad. Na brežuljku stoji visok zvonik pokraj crkve. To je kopija slavnog tornja u Veneciji. Sagrađen je prije više od četiristo godina.

Polly went back to town. On the hill stands a tall bell tower next to the church. It is a copy of the famous tower in Venice. It was built more than four hundred years ago.

Unutra ima sto četrdeset i šest drvenih stuba. Polly je skočila na svaku stubu. Na vrhu su visjela velika zvona. Vjetar je mirisao na sol.

Inside there are one hundred and forty-six wooden steps. Polly hopped up every step. At the top hung the big bells. The wind smelled of salt.

Grad je ležao pod njom. Narančasti krovovi spuštali su se do mora. Bijeli trg sjao je kao mali mjesec. S jedne strane bilo je samo plavo more.

The town lay below her. Orange roofs ran down to the sea. The white square shone like a little moon. On one side there was only blue sea.

S druge strane, daleko, bijelo su sjale soline. S jedne strane voda, s druge sol. Galeb je bio u pravu. Sol je sagradila ovaj grad.

On the other side, far away, the salt pans shone white. Water on one side, salt on the other. The gull was right. Salt built this town.
