Cvijet soli

Dan je bio vruć i miran. Navečer su bazeni bili ravni i tihi. Polly je stajala na rubu bazena i čekala.

The day was hot and still. In the evening, the pools were flat and quiet. Polly stood at the edge of a pool and waited.

Onda su na vodi narasli tanki bijeli kristali. Izgledali su kao inje. Radnici ih zovu cvijet soli. Dolaze samo u mirnim, toplim danima. To je najfinija sol od svih.

Then thin white crystals grew on the top of the water. They looked like frost. The workers call them the flower of salt. They come only on calm, warm days. This is the finest salt of all.

Došao je jedan radnik s finom mrežicom na dugom drvenom okviru. Vrlo je nježno podigao bijele cvjetove. Polly je sjedila na kraju okvira i gledala.

A worker came with a fine net on a long wooden frame. He lifted the white flowers very gently. Polly sat on the end of the frame and watched.

Sunce je zašlo. Bazeni su postali ružičasti i narančasti. Jedan sićušan kristal bio je na njezinu peru. Polly ga je kušala. Imao je okus mora i sunca.

The sun went down. The pools turned pink and orange. One tiny crystal sat on Polly's feather. She tasted it. It tasted of the sea and the sun.
