우리 집 옆 공원

나는 오래된 나무에 살아요. 공원 옆에 있어요. 작은 공원이에요. 유명하지 않아요. 하지만 나는 이 공원을 아주 잘 알아요. 매일 가니까요.

I live in an old tree, next to the park. It is a small park and it is not famous, but I know it very well because I go every day.

아침에 비가 그치면, 나는 나무에서 내려가요. 먹을 것을 찾으러 가요. 나는 길을 지나가는 사람들을 잠시 봐요. 벤치 근처에는 항상 비둘기들이 있어요. 빵 조각을 기다려요.

In the morning, when the rain stops, I climb down from the tree to look for food. I spend a while watching the ones who pass along the path. There are always pigeons near the benches, waiting for a bit of bread.

배저 씨는 열 시에 와요. 항상 같은 시간이에요. 비둘기들에게 빵을 가져와요. 비둘기들이 바로 그를 둘러싸요. 나는 큰 빵 조각을 두고 싸우는 모습을 보는 게 정말 재미있어요.

Mr. Badger arrives at ten, always at the same time. He brings bread for the pigeons and they surround him at once. I have a lot of fun watching how they fight over the biggest crumbs.

토요일에는 공원이 달라져요. 가족들이 오고, 아이들이 나무 사이에서 숨바꼭질을 해요. 아이들은 숨는 걸 잘 못해요. 계속 웃거든요. 그래서 나는 항상 어디에 있는지 알아요. 부모님들은 벤치에서 이야기하느라 바빠요. 시계를 보지 않아요.

On Saturdays the park changes. The families arrive and the little ones play hide and seek among the trees. They hide very badly: they laugh the whole time, and that is why I always know where they are. Their parents keep themselves busy talking on the benches and do not look at the clock.

오후가 끝나면, 모두 집에 가요. 공원은 조용해져요. 그때 나는 다시 내려가요. 물가를 천천히 걸어요. 아침보다 이 시간이 더 좋아요. 공원이 오직 내 것이니까요.

When the afternoon ends, everyone goes home and the park falls silent. Then I climb down again and walk beside the water, without hurrying. I enjoy it more now than in the morning, because the park is only mine.

나는 멀리 갈 필요가 없어요. 우리 집 옆에 내 공원이 있어요. 나에게는 그게 충분해요.

I do not need to go far. My park is next to my house, and for me that is enough.
