Niže je na stopnicah še nekdo. Od spodaj prihaja lisica. Ima meter in beležnico. Pri vsaki stopnici se ustavi in jo izmeri. Polly se umakne na stran.

Further down, somebody else is on the steps. A fox comes up from below. She has a ruler and a notebook. She stops at every step and measures it. Polly moves to one side.

Te stopnice so vsekali ročno. Nobeni dve stopnici nista enaki. Nekatere so visoke. Nekatere so zelo nizke.

People cut these steps by hand. No two steps are the same. Some are high. Some are very low.

Zdaj pride smešen del. Nihče ne ve, koliko stopnic je. En urad pravi sto sedeminosemdeset. Drug urad pravi sto devetinosemdeset. Oba sta uradna.

Here is the funny part. Nobody knows how many steps there are. One office says one hundred and eighty seven. Another office says one hundred and eighty nine. Both are official.
