A rocha que se afastou

Polly desce mais. Vê uma rocha alta na água. Está sozinha. As ondas quebram brancas em volta dela.

Polly goes further down. She sees a tall rock in the water. It stands alone. Waves break white around it.

Há muito tempo, aquela rocha fazia parte da falésia. Depois, as ondas levaram a pedra que estava por baixo. Agora está sozinha no mar. É fina na base.

Long ago that rock was part of the cliff. Then the waves took away the stone under it. Now it stands alone in the sea. It is thin at the bottom.

A gull flies past. This gull does not follow boats. It does not take food from people. It catches its own fish in the sea.

The gull flies away. Polly looks at the space between the rock and the cliff. That space was stone before.
