離れていった岩

ポリーはもっと降ります。海の中に高い岩が見えます。岩はひとりで立っています。岩のまわりで、波が白くくだけています。

Polly goes further down. She sees a tall rock in the water. It stands alone. Waves break white around it.

むかし、その岩は崖の一部でした。でも、波が岩の下の石を持っていきました。今、岩は海の中にひとりで立っています。岩は下のほうが細いです。

Long ago that rock was part of the cliff. Then the waves took away the stone under it. Now it stands alone in the sea. It is thin at the bottom.

カモメが一羽、飛んでいきます。このカモメは船について行きません。人の食べ物をとりません。海で自分で魚をとります。

A gull flies past. This gull does not follow boats. It does not take food from people. It catches its own fish in the sea.

カモメは飛んでいきます。ポリーは岩と崖のあいだのすき間を見ます。そこは、前は石でした。

The gull flies away. Polly looks at the space between the rock and the cliff. That space was stone before.
