Carla se coupe la main. Elle fait la vaisselle chez elle. Elle va à la clinique. Elle reçoit un numéro : quarante-sept.

Carla cuts her hand. She washes dishes at home. She goes to the clinic. She gets a number: forty-seven.

L'écran affiche trente et un. La salle est pleine. Un homme lit un magazine. Un père tient un bébé. Un adolescent regarde son téléphone.

The screen shows thirty-one. The room is full. A man reads a magazine. A father holds a baby. A teenager looks at his phone.

Les numéros changent lentement : trente-deux, trente-trois, trente-six. Ils ne suivent pas l'ordre. Carla attend.

The numbers change slowly: thirty-two, thirty-three, thirty-six. They do not go in order. Carla waits.

Après une heure, l'écran affiche quarante-sept. Carla entre. Le médecin regarde sa main. "C'est petit," dit-il. "Nettoie-la deux fois par jour."

After one hour, the screen shows forty-seven. Carla goes in. The doctor looks at her hand. "It is small," he says. "Clean it two times a day."

Carla part. La salle est presque vide. L'adolescent n'est plus là. Le bébé est réveillé.

Carla leaves. The room is almost empty. The teenager is gone. The baby is awake.
