Mesto na pečini

Polly leti proti jugu ob obali Korzike. Potem se otok konča. Pred njo je samo morje. Daleč stran vidi še en otok.

Polly flies south along the coast of Corsica. Then the island ends. In front of her there is only sea. Far away she can see another island.

Polly se obrne in zagleda mesto. Mesto stoji na visoki beli pečini. Hiše so visoke in ozke. Stojijo čisto na robu. Pod njimi pečina pada globoko dol do morja.

Polly turns and sees a town. The town stands on a high white cliff. The houses are tall and narrow. They stand right at the edge. Below them the cliff falls a long way down to the sea.

Polly pristane na starem mestnem zidu in pogleda dol. Skala je bela in suha. Pod njo letajo galebi. Potem zagleda nekaj čudnega. V pečini je ozka črta. V črti so stopnice.

Polly lands on the old town wall and looks down. The rock is white and dry. Gulls fly below her. Then she sees something strange. There is a narrow line cut into the cliff. Inside the line there are steps.

Stopnice gredo dol v temo. Polly ne vidi njihovega konca. Polly bo šla tja dol.

The steps go down into the dark. Polly cannot see the end of them. Polly will go down there.
