Wiele osób pije kawę rano, ale mało kto wie, skąd ona pochodzi. Kawa rośnie na zielonej roślinie z błyszczącymi liśćmi. Roślina lubi ciepłą pogodę blisko środka świata. Mówi się, że pierwsze krzewy kawy rosły dawno temu w Etiopii, w Afryce.
Roślina wydaje małe owoce, które nazywamy wiśniami kawowca. Wiśnie zaczynają jako zielone i powoli stają się jasnoczerwone. Wewnątrz każdej czerwonej wiśni są dwa małe nasiona. Ludzie zbierają dojrzałe wiśnie ręcznie i wyjmują z nich nasiona, które nazywamy ziarnami kawy.
Potem zielone ziarna suszą się na słońcu przez wiele dni. Następnie ludzie prażą je w cieple, aż staną się ciemnobrązowe i pięknie pachną. Na koniec ktoś miele ziarna i dodaje gorącą wodę. Po długiej podróży z farmy kawa jest gotowa do picia.
