De unde vine cafeaua

Mulți oameni beau cafea dimineața, dar puțini știu de unde vine. Cafeaua crește pe o plantă verde cu frunze lucioase. Planta îi place vremea caldă, aproape de mijlocul lumii. Se spune că primele plante de cafea au crescut cu mult timp în urmă în Etiopia, în Africa.

Many people drink coffee in the morning, but few know where it comes from. Coffee grows on a green plant with shiny leaves. The plant likes warm weather near the middle of the world. People say the first coffee plants grew long ago in Ethiopia, in Africa.

Planta face fructe mici numite cireșe. Cireșele încep verzi și se transformă încet în roșu strălucitor. În interiorul fiecărei cireșe roșii sunt două semințe mici. Oamenii culeg cireșele coapte cu mâna și scot semințele, pe care le numim boabe de cafea.

The plant grows small fruits called cherries. The cherries start green and slowly turn bright red. Inside each red cherry there are two little seeds. People pick the ripe cherries by hand and take out the seeds, which we call coffee beans.

Apoi, boabele verzi se usucă la soare timp de multe zile. După aceea, oamenii le prăjesc cu căldură până devin maro-închis și miros minunat. În final, cineva macină boabele și adaugă apă fierbinte. După o călătorie lungă de la fermă, cafeaua este gata de băut.

Next, the green beans dry in the sun for many days. Then people roast them with heat until they turn dark brown and smell wonderful. Finally, someone grinds the beans and adds hot water. After a long trip from the farm, the coffee is ready to drink.
