Blizu majhnega jezera je Polly videla velike lonce ob globokih luknjah. Kuhar je z vrvjo dal lonec v vsako luknjo. Polly je gledala.

V vsakem loncu sta bila meso in zelenjava. Zemlja pod njim je vroča od vulkana. Ognja ni. Hrano skuha samo toplota zemlje.

Lonci ostanejo v zemlji šest ali sedem ur. Ljudje gredo med čakanjem na sprehod. Potem se vrnejo na večerjo.

Ko so odprli prvi lonec, je prišla para. Zelo lepo je dišalo. Polly je gledala, kako ga je kuhar veselo odnesel.
