I Vecchi Mulini a Vento

In cima alla collina piatta sopra la città, Polly trovò una lunga fila di torri rotonde in pietra, stagliate contro il cielo.

High on the flat top of the hills above the town, Polly found a long row of round stone towers standing against the sky.

Erano vecchi mulini a vento. Oggi non hanno più né tetto né pale. Sono solo torri aperte, con piccole finestre scure, silenziose nel vento.

They were old windmills. Today they have no roofs and no sails any more. They are just open towers with small dark windows, quiet in the wind.

Molto tempo fa, il vento forte quassù faceva girare le grandi pale giorno dopo giorno, e i mulini macinavano il grano trasformandolo in farina per tutta la città sottostante.

Long ago, the strong wind up here turned their great sails day after day, and the mills ground wheat into flour for the whole town below.

Polly osservò da vicino le pareti. Era la stessa pietra dorata che aveva visto nella grotta vicino al mare. Inclinò la testa e cominciò a chiedersi come fosse possibile.

Polly looked closely at the walls. It was the same golden stone she had seen in the cave by the sea. She tilted her head and began to wonder.
