Ranná loď zakotvila v Stromnesse. Polly vystúpila na mokrý kameň. Vietor neprestával. Na móle sedel pes. "Môžete mi ukázať cestu?"

Ešte nevedela, kam ísť. Ostrovov je asi sedemdesiat. Ľudia žijú len asi na dvadsiatich. "Mohli by ste mi povedať, kde môžem chytiť autobus?" spýtala sa.

"Ako dlho trvá cesta pešo do centra mesta?" Pes sa pozrel na jedinú úzku ulicu. Jedenásť minút, povedal.

"Viete mi povedať, či sa dnes konajú nejaké zaujímavé podujatia?" Časy lodí sú tu správy, povedal. Je tu kaplnka, ktorú postavili zajatci. Je tu dedina pod pieskom.
