소리치지 않으면 정류장을 놓쳐요

당신은 작은 밴 안에 있어요. 다른 사람 열네 명도 있어요. 벨은 없어요. 다음 정류장 이름이 나오는 화면도 없어요. 기사님은 목록이 없어요. 아무도 당신을 도와주지 않아요.

You are in a small van with fourteen other people. There is no bell. There is no screen with the name of the next stop. The driver does not have a list, and nobody is going to help you.

이것은 공유 버스예요. 많은 나라에서 이렇게 해요. 사람이 가득 차면 출발해요. 누군가 부탁하는 곳에서 멈춰요. 당신의 일은 창밖으로 당신의 거리가 지나가기 전에 크게 말하는 거예요.

This is a shared bus, and in many countries it works the same way. It leaves when it is full. It stops where somebody asks it to stop. Your job is to say something out loud before your street goes past the window.

단어 두세 개면 돼요. 모퉁이 이름을 말해요. 아니면 그냥 이렇게 말해요. "여기서 세워 주세요." 당신 집 문이 보일 때까지 기다리면 이미 늦어요. 일찍 말해요. 크게 말해요. 아무도 못 들으면 다시 말해요. 당신이 헤매는 것 같으면 옆에 앉은 여자가 대신 말해 줄 거예요. 생각보다 자주 그런 일이 있어요.

You only need two or three words. You say the name of the corner, or you simply say: here is good, please. If you wait until you can see your own door, you are already too late. Say it early, say it loudly, and say it again if nobody hears you the first time. The woman next to you will repeat it for you if you look lost. That happens more often than you would think.
