Pčele su male, ali rade jako naporno. Radilica leti od cvijeta do cvijeta cijeli dan. Svojim dugim jezikom pije slatki sok iz cvjetova. Taj slatki sok zove se nektar, a pčela ga čuva u posebnom želucu.
Natrag u košnici, pčela predaje nektar drugim pčelama. One ga prenose iz usta u usta i dodaju malo nečega iz svog tijela. Zatim stavljaju nektar u male voštane sobice. Pčele brzo mašu krilima da ga osuše, i nektar polako postaje gust med.
