Гора-слон

Полли прилетела на рассвете, низко пролетая над спокойным синим морем. Впереди из воды поднималась длинная гора, и с этой стороны она была очень похожа на спящего слона. Местные жители побережья называют её Монтго. Полли полетела прямо к ней.

Polly arrived at dawn, flying low over a calm blue sea. Ahead of her, a long mountain rose straight out of the water, and from this side it looked just like a sleeping elephant. The people of the coast call it Montgó. Polly flew straight towards it.

У подножия горы лежал маленький белый городок с узкими улочками, черепичными крышами и тихим рыбацким портом. Городок называется Хавеа, и он раскинулся на равнине между горой и морем.

At the foot of the mountain lay a small white town with narrow streets, terracotta roofs and a quiet fishing port. The town is called Xàbia, and it rests on the plain between the mountain and the sea.

Полли приземлилась высоко на гребне, на камень, ещё тёплый с прошлого дня. Камень был цвета мёда. Оттуда ей было видно всё побережье, раскинувшееся внизу.

Polly landed high on the ridge, on rock that was still warm from the day before. The stone was the colour of honey. From up there she could see the whole coastline stretched out below her.

Медленно солнце поднималось из воды, и его свет окрасил гору и городок в золотой цвет. Полли вдохнула солёный воздух и приняла решение. Она останется здесь на семь дней.

Slowly the sun climbed out of the water, and its light turned the mountain and the town gold. Polly breathed in the salty air and made a decision. She would stay here for seven days.
