海底的大峡谷

早上，大海平得像玻璃。Polly 低低地飞过水面。她的翅膀几乎碰到水。

In the morning the sea was flat like glass. Polly flew low over the water. Her wings almost touched it.

然后，水的颜色变了。靠近沙子的地方是绿色。再过去是深深的蓝色。看起来像海里有一条线。

Then the water changed color. Near the sand it was green. Then it was dark, dark blue. It looked like a line in the sea.

为什么呢？水下面有一个巨大的峡谷。它是欧洲最大的海底峡谷。它从沙滩附近开始，一直往下，非常非常深。

Why? Under the water there is a giant canyon. It is the biggest underwater canyon in Europe. It starts near the beach and goes down very, very deep.

这个峡谷把远方风暴的力量带到这片沙滩。那天晚上，Polly 看见海面上有一条一条细细的波浪。巨浪，正在路上。

The canyon brings the power of far storms to this beach. That evening Polly saw thin lines of waves on the sea. The giants were on their way.
