立方体を作る動物

立方体の形のふんをする動物がいます。オーストラリアのウォンバットです。地面に穴を掘ります。夜に草を食べます。小さな立方体を残します。

One animal makes cube shaped poop. It is a wombat, from Australia. It digs in the ground. It eats grass at night. It leaves small cubes behind.

長年、誰もその理由を知りませんでした。角を作るのは難しいことです。他の動物は丸いふんをします。科学者たちはウォンバットの体の中を調べます。

For years, nobody knew why. Corners are hard to make. Other animals make round poop. Scientists look inside the wombat.

ウォンバットの体の中には、硬い壁があります。その硬い壁が角を作ります。ウォンバットは岩の上に立方体を置きます。これは自分の場所の印になります。丸いふんは転がって行ってしまいます。

Inside the wombat, some walls are hard. The hard walls make the corners. The wombat puts cubes on rocks. This marks its place. Round poop would roll away.
