Une pizza entière, ou juste une part

Le four est au fond du magasin. Il est fait de brique et brûle du charbon. Un blaireau boulanger bouge une longue pelle dans le feu. Il cuit une pizza en quelques minutes.

The oven sat at the back of the shop, made of brick and burning coal. A badger baker moved a long paddle in and out of the fire, cooking a pizza in just a few minutes.

Le magasin a ouvert en mille neuf cent cinq. Beaucoup de gens près d'ici venaient d'Italie. Ils n'avaient pas beaucoup d'argent. Alors le boulanger coupe la pizza en parts. Il vend une part à la fois, dans du papier.

The shop opened in nineteen oh five. Many people nearby had just come from Italy and did not have much money. So the baker cut the pizza into pieces and sold one at a time, wrapped in paper.

La recette n'a pas beaucoup changé. La pâte repose toute la nuit. La sauce est froide sur la pâte. Le fromage fond en petits tas, pas en une seule couche.

The recipe has not changed much. The dough rests overnight, the sauce goes on cold, and the cheese melts in soft patches, not one smooth layer.

Les animaux attendent en ligne avec des pièces. Polly regarde les parts disparaître. Chaque part est pliée une fois, au milieu.
