La lluvia cae en la tierra de arriba. Allí arriba la roca es caliza. El agua se hunde dentro. Baja por dentro de la piedra y sale aquí.

Ahora Polly entiende los escalones. Los soldados no los hicieron en una noche. Los hicieron monjes, despacio, durante muchos años. Querían esta agua.
