The Elephant Mountain

Polly flew in at dawn over a calm blue sea. Ahead, a long mountain rose straight out of the water. From this side it looked like a sleeping elephant. People call it Montgó. Polly has a red head, a green body, and small round glasses.

Polly lensi aamunkoitteessa rauhallisen sinisen meren yllä. Edessä nousi pitkä vuori suoraan vedestä. Tästä suunnasta se näytti nukkuvalta norsulta. Ihmiset kutsuvat sitä Montgóksi. Pollylla on punainen pää, vihreä vartalo ja pienet pyöreät lasit.

Below the mountain sat a small white town. It had narrow streets, terracotta roofs, and a quiet fishing port. The town is called Xàbia, and it sits between the mountain and the sea.

Vuoren alla oli pieni valkoinen kaupunki. Siellä oli kapeita katuja, terrakottakattoja ja hiljainen kalasatama. Kaupungin nimi on Xàbia, ja se sijaitsee vuoren ja meren välissä.

Polly landed on the warm rock high on the ridge. The stone was the colour of honey. She looked down at the whole coast.

Polly laskeutui lämpimälle kalliolle korkealle harjanteelle. Kivi oli hunajan värinen. Hän katsoi alas koko rannikolle.

The sun came up over the water. The light turned the mountain and the town gold. Polly decided to stay for seven days.

Aurinko nousi veden ylle. Valo muutti vuoren ja kaupungin kultaisiksi. Polly päätti jäädä seitsemäksi päiväksi.
