Stories Are the Key
Maya learns English quickly by reading simple stories every night.

Before you read
Maya sat in her small room, holding a new book. She wanted to learn English, but the long word lists made her tired. One day, Maya found a collection of short stories. The cover was bright and colorful. She thought, "Maybe stories will help me learn."
That night, Maya read the first story. It was about a dog who found a lost shoe. The sentences were simple. Maya could understand most words, and learned a few new ones from the pictures. She smiled. Learning this way was fun!
Every evening, she read one story before bed. Some stories were about children at school. Others were about animals or trips to the park. Each story taught her something new. She was surprised how quickly she remembered new words.
After a month, Maya spoke with her friend Anna. She used words from the stories. Anna noticed and said, "Your English is better! How did you learn so fast?" Maya laughed and held up her book. "I learn through stories," she said. Anna wanted to try it too.
Maya was happy. She knew she would read many more stories and learn even more each day.
That's the story.
